Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, Request the Honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Paprika

April 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Ladies! One of the most exciting things about planning a wedding is actually sending out invitations! Now a days there are so many options out there from using a traditional style, to having them custom made, to creating your own… and even more options on the type of medium from traditional invitation cards, to e-invitations, to video invitations.

Either way you have a lot of say in how you announce your big day! Here are some examples and sites for you to get ideas from….( by the way the first site listed has Indian inspired invitations …love it!!!)

Lights, camera, action!

April 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Alright Ladies, so we’ve talked about the wedding singer and everything else that will make your wedding the most memorable day of your life. Now its time to talk about how to save those memories!  And what better way to create a living breathing time capsule of your wedding than through the help of a photographer. Ladies, a photographer can’t erase memories from your mind but if he or she is a bad one they can make it hard to remember anything but  seeing red when you’ve seen those negatives!  So here are my tips to finding and keeping  a good photographer:

1. As always ask around to your friends and family

2. Look at the photographers websites or visit their shops and look through their work

3. Shop around for prices

4. Make sure their equipment is compatible to your day and that you have the right electrical outlets available for them

5. Discuss packages and when you get your pictures make sure they have back up technology because nothing is worse than having your pictures accidentally deleted.

6. Test the waters and have them take pictures at your engagement dinner

Lastly  check out this pic from my aunt Annette Webb…she is a self taught photographer and sometimes the photographers who have the least experience but the heart are the ones who capture the best moments.

Sing me all the way to the honeymoon suite

April 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Ok so I know all of you remember this scene from “The Wedding Singer” right? well though it had me rolling on the floor crying …those were tears of joy not sorrow. But you will cry tears of sorrow if your wedding singer turns out to be like George. So ladies choose wisely!…here are some tips to help you find the singers of your dreams…

1. Ask around – friends and family will always give you an honest opinion

2. Hear at least 3 different options

3. Listen to the singers whole set- make sure that they can sing all of the songs you requested and don’t mess up the father daughter dance :)

4. Lastly, ladies make a list of your favorite songs that you  want to  hear at your wedding …(we all have at least a top ten for me I have about 100 )…and don’t forget to get your hubby to be’s opinion as well who knows he may just have that song that will put the night into overdrive :)

Going to the chapel, garden, beach…its all about location

March 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Ok so ladies I’m back and now that we know your theme we can move on to bigger and better things like location!!!! Ok so ladies so depending on what your theme is you have to make sure the location is right! If you have a garden theme make sure that the location fits. Plan on looking at a lot of locations before you make your final decision. Remember ladies that research is a big part of this process so do your research. Look at locations near and far but keep in mind your guests. If you want the majority of your guestlist to show you might want to look at a location that is closer to home. If you still want to do a location farther away remember to keep this is mind when making your timeline and give your guests enough notice so that they can make travel arrangements. If your looking at places farther away get in touch with a travel agent to get some direction and also visit the location before your wedding date. If your looking for places closer to home keep in mind your local flower gardens, country clubs, hotels, and historic churches.

You are cordially invited to my costume party…I mean wedding

March 9, 2009 · 1 Comment

Ok  I’m back on track ladies don’t worry…so lets talk about theme….When I say theme I don’t mean the theme party you threw for your sweet sixteen…no ladies I mean an incorporation of style, colors and pieces that will make your wedding uniquely yours.

Now your wedding can go with the season or be the complete opposite. It can incorporate some of your passions like photography or even those little blue boxes of perfection from Tiffany’s…now in my case I’ve seen it all from generic themes held on valentines day that incoporated the traditional colors..you guessed lots of red and pink…but I’ve also been to weddings which were very intimate and true to the couple…In my sister’s case her and her husband are very down to earth and soulful people so they want to incorporate really earthy colors and have in intimate yet ethnic feel to their day.

Once you decide on what you and your hubby to be are passionate about take off from there and fly…let me warn you ladies however not to take flight too soon you want to be careful that your wedding doesn’t turn into a costume party gone wrong and end up on redneck weddings, (even though I secretly wish I had the guts to go all out like some of the people on the show), because even though you want this wedding to be about you, you also want your guests to enjoy themselves and not run away when you and your hubby to be start to impersonate Ozzy Osbourne by biting off a bat heads in order to profess your true love for each other :)   (love you Ozzy!)…well ladies I’ve given you your wings now fly my little ones towards your dreams…oh and to give you a little direction here’s a site that I love, but let me warn you she is the fairy godmother of all things weddings…you guessed it …Martha!!!! http://tiny.cc/OrV2s

Dress to impress!!!!

March 7, 2009 · 1 Comment

Ok Ok so maybe I’m going a little out of order by talking about THE DRESS so early on but realistically who doesn’t? I mean the dress is what it is all about. So next post I’ll be back on track but for now, let me enjoy this moment, let me savour the hand sewn on beading, the lace, and the itchy undergarments ok! Alright so before the dress you should really think about theme, but lets assume you already have for now, the next thing you need to do is GO shopping! whether you are getting your dress made, buying from a boutique or chain, or even revamping the one out of mom’s closet, your dress has to represent you! So because this is a sneak peak post about THE DRESS I’m going to give you a little somethin somethin to walk away with…heres to all my thick girls (the ones with the hips and curves we all secretly wish we had)…so check it out!…http://tiny.cc/YaFnT….check out this blog too…http://tiny.cc/IbEsc
